We’ve all seen it. Cartoon depictions of what it looks like to wake up after a reinvigorating night of sleep, birds chirping at the window while the character in question seems to welcome the new day with open arms. This may seem completely absurd for anyone that tends to enjoy spending time on digital devices a bit too much. Whether you stay up late playing video games, or immediately gravitate towards your phone upon waking, unplugging from digital devices can sometimes be the key to regaining control in your life.

What is a Digital Detox?

A digital detox is the act of intentionally cutting down the amount of time that you spend using digital devices. Today, this can mean spending less time on social media, surfing the web, or even using digital devices altogether. The problem here is that in this digital age, these devices prove to be incredibly useful tools when used responsibly. For many people, using a laptop or even social media can be a necessity for their job, making unplugging seem like an impossible task. The good news here is that you don’t need to completely abstain from using technology to feel the positive effects of a digital detox.
